Great service and good food!

Great half-price night on Mondays. Overall it’s a good try at a hipster British carvery with a great staff, good cocktails and strong beer and wine selection. Try the Cullen Skink, a savory, smoky fish cream chowder that tastes like home.

If I could give it zero stars, I would – a thoroughly depressing experience in a city where great food is easier to find than a taxi. Driven by under staffing (there were just two people on the floor, with one working the bar), the service was excruciatingly slow, taking more than an hour to get all of our food. When it arrived, the food varied from average (the fish in the fish and chips had a great batter but the fish itself was dry; the chips were limp, luke-warm and tasteless) to “I could do better at home” (the poussin – advertised as roast chicken) was severely overcooked and the gravy bitter. At over $1200 for four people including two children, it was ridiculously over-priced.

All-in-all, it felt like the owners couldn’t give two hoots. They hadn’t put the right number of wait staff on duty to cope with a virtually full restaurant and they’ve recruited kitchen staff barely able to manage the menu.

In the nine months we’ve lived in Hong Kong this was the single most depressing meal we’ve had.

Hate to say it, but it’s losing its charm. It’s lobster special was disappointing and dry. Stick to the classics.

3 stars – on our 2nd visit
Good – waiters are helpful and nice. Restaurant environment is cosy
Bad – waiters forget to count the 10% discount when prepare the bill but we found out too late. Order pale ale chicken and salmon omelette, taste is just ok at that price. This is against our first visit experience here unfortunately.

Nice British restaurant. Half price steak the day we were there. We shared a big steak between four. Yum.

Good beer options too – Quirky British style bistro. Serviceable food as Miss Brodie would say, kale salad a cut above the mediocre whitebait. Cool vibe @ lunch.
I’d go again as an alternative to great local food. Good beer options too – old speckled hen.

Deliciousness and atmosphere are stellar!

Visited there for a party of 3 people. Service was good and the place was cozy.

Bread was served before meal, and it was quite good.

The main dish I ordered, the Hanger steak, was disappointing. Although the doneness was right, it did not carry the character of a hanger steak, which supposed to be the most tender cut of a cow. It was a bit rough. It also lacks of meat flavor.

It was too expensive for the price I paid.
