Really good – fantastic coffee, delicious sandwiches but more importantly, just excellent staff / owner. Super friendly, welcoming, and those free biscuits – our son loves them! Best cafe in SYP (and HK) hands down.

I think this place is quite new and it’s great. The guy working there is s true coffee and wine lover and serves the very best of both. Had natural wines in the evening – really interesting selection. Brilliant place.

Best coffee I’ve had in Hong Kong, a true barista! Food is delicious, fresh and creative, not your run of the mill coffee shop grub. And to have somewhere which actually plays good music is a very welcome addition to HK, not to mention the amazing natural wine selection in the evening.

Place is legit.

Terrific little coffee/sandwich shop in Sai Ying Poon. Friendly staff, great coffee and snacks, did not try the lunch menu but it looked great. Anxious to try a glass of wine one evening. Owner was there (a Brit) and he was most friendly and welcoming. We will be back!

Coffee was ok, as was the toasted sandwich….but the lady serving us was rather short tempered and quite rude. Much better places to have coffee in HK.

The avocado za’atar toast was very tasty. Unfortunately no drip coffee when we went, but the milk based coffee was nice too.

Amazing coffee!! Well worth the “detour”, a short 1 minute walk from the MTR.

This is hands down best coffee I have ever had in Hong Kong. I’m from Australia and I drink coffee everyday, I can honestly say detour makes top notch coffee even comparing to what I drink back home. I had a latte and a toast when I was there and can you believe it? They serve vegemite !!! Thank you for also cooking up some hot chocolate and babycinos for my kids. They absolutely loved it. Such warm service as well. Awesome Coffee with a smile? What more do you want?

Cheese sandwich was fantastic, but the coffee was too bitter/sour for my taste. I’m probably in the minority on that, though.

Love the vibe, food, coffee and music. Friendly owner and staff. The cafe is tucked in the old part of Sai Yin Pun. Will definitely come again. Had the pesto chicken sandwich which was delicious. Will definitely come back again!

Nice little coffee shop with great sandwiches. Good for casual dates, meeting people or just get some work done.

Such a warm cozy place, gives me a very comfortable neighborhood environment, great place to have a conversation over coffee with friends and family. 😀

It’s one of my most visited cafe in the area. They have cheerful staff and best coffee.

Hong Kong has more new cafes popping up than one can keep track of, but Detour had got something right that every one of the also rans is aiming for. There is an immediate sense of community when you enter – a friendly greeting, a congenial bustle that sees regulars and workers greeting each other and exchanging updates on life, and a good cup of Joe based on Redback beans, which have become a hallmark of coffee shop quality. The service can be slow add the owner chats and pulls shots inn almost equal measure, but you can’t complain with the final product. Enjoy!

Love the homemade sodas. Cool place. Would come back here for sure.
