Portion on small side but tasty
Good, but not quite as good as the hype…
While the flavors are rather authentic (particularly considering our distance from Mexico) the meat quality is a little sub-par. Gristle aside the carne asada is flavored very well, the chicken is oddly better though, super tender and juicy (not normal for mass cooked chicken right?).
If you’ve been away from Mexico (or the southern portion of the USA) for any length of time, this place will sooth the desires.. Be careful though, it might just make home even more missed.
One last note, be careful looking for it or you’ll miss it 😉

Great Burritos, but The carnitas tacos and fish tacos are best in HK . Will be back for sure , loved finding this place
Authentic Mexican selection but you need to add your own spicy sauces. Need some labels for the variety of Mexican chili sauces, US Louisiana chili sauce and Chinese chili sauce on their spiciness levels so you know what to mix into your Nachos, Tacos etc. Beef tongue tacos were flavourful. Just missing the Rocky Mountain oysters (Prairie oysters/ Criadillas a la Mexicana) for a more authentic and adventurous Mexican menu. Also, the tacos would be better if they were fried corn tortillas based. Still, enough veggies in the meat tacos so you don’t need a salad side order
Food is excellent and the variety of chilli sauces elevates it to a higher standard.
Great food but only worth it if you get the Eatigo discount
The food is worth the money. Would suggest going through eatigo for the best value. Not so welcoming customer service though.
Good and tasty food. Go here for a quick bite to eat – staff are happy to make adjustments, e.g. I got the veggie burrito bowl without any sour cream and cheese with no issues.

The tacos were ok. Other than the staples of chicken, carnitas (pork) and fish, it’s interesting they also serve lengua (beef tongue), although a bit too done and oversauced. Price is mid-high for the portion size. Nachos were disappointing considering what it costs ($50+). Overall, if you’re absolutely hankering for a taco / burrito, this will do. Just be prepared to shell out about a hundred for a filling meal.

A nice place for Mexican food in SYP. Is a good competitor for Calimex. Is an open door place, so no cooling or air conditioning of the sort. Plenty of variety in the food. Would recommend for sure.

Local foods for non-locals
I LOVED Taco Chaca for a long time, and even though the food arrives cold sometimes I don’t blame them, because it is what it is when food is delivered. What I do have a HUGE problem with is that I found STAPLES inside my tacos mixed with the taco sauces. IT’S SO DANGEROUS and is UNACCEPTABLE. Sadly the staples got caught in the roof of my mouth and resulted in bleeding and wounds. How on earth did clusters of staples get mixed in with FOOD? I’m horribly disappointed because I do like their food, but staples in food is just not okay regardless. I wish I could continue supporting this little taco joint, but I’m so disappointed I’m not sure I could eat food from there again. I rarely write negative reviews but this is a real problem (note: not very pleasing photos are below.)

Thank you for your acknowledgment. While I appreciate your gesture for a complimentary meal, I am not interested. The only thing that I would like to ask your restaurant for is for the kitchen to be tidied up and staff to be aware of the incident so that none of your customers ever experience anything like this.

I have to be honest – the flavour at El Macho is better but Taco Chaca is definitely a very very very close second. Their carnitas burrito is legit, Dodger Stadium Taco is a must get, guac is fantastic. Really couldn’t ask for more!!
I ordered a few times through Foodpanda from them, and I can honestly say that the food tastes okay. But I sometimes always feel a little bit sick afterwards. I don’t know what kind of ingredients they use that provokes these reactions in my body… but that’s a No-Go for me 😟 …
Edit: I’m from America and I’ve never had Mexican food this bad. Just because it’s Cali mex food doesn’t mean it has to be devoid of flavor and mostly bland mushy rice. Maybe you can improve your product if you want good reviews.
Incredibly sad portions. The burrito I got was 98% flavorless, bland rice and 2% low quality meat. Everything here is greasy too. Not Mexican food at all.

I recently moved in across the street. I’ve already eaten here four times.
Food is great, very Tex-Mex style and reasonably priced.
The staff are very friendly and always smiling.
Good service, and drinks.
Decent mexican joint but better for home delivery as there is only place for 8-10 people to sit
Carnitas burrito always hits the spot
Above average burrito bowl, but rice was too soft and overcooked.
Visited and ordered through Food Panda many times. Never disappointed. Love their Avocado Black Bean Burrito Bowl.
As someone from Southern California, I can say that this is the only authentic taco shop in Hong Kong. Prices are much more reasonable than similar establishments and they use fresh ingredients.
Lovely staff! Food is soo good as well! Ordered from here a handful of times and each time, i ended up with a happy belly!

Amazing Texmex food …
I used to be one of the biggest fans of Taco Chaca until my most recent experience.
I went to the restaurant and was served chilli cheese fries which were cold. When I raised it to a lady who presumably looked like the manager, she mentioned that it was cooked yesterday and that’s why its cold.
When I complained about being served food cooked yesterday, the lady said I should have asked before ordering.
Apart from the fact that food was not up to standards, the sheer arrogance of the manager is startling. Instead of being polite, she was shouting and calling on her staff to rally behind her.
Taco Chaca, unfortunately for you, you’ve lost a customer and probably earned some well-deserved bad word of mouth publicity.

As of today, I am very disappointed by the way the food was cooked. Ordered 6 tacos, 4 of them were cold, and all were served at once. Two of them were soaked in watery caritas juice, which soaked up the tortillas, which were very disgusting.
They should have just served whatever was ready, and not wait until all of them.were cooked… It is clear the gang of cooks/waitress have no passion in whatever they are doing/cooking.
It is unlikely that I will be back unless this gang is gone.

The closest thing to unpretentious Mexican food in town
I ordered my first taco Chaca from food panda. I was very disappointed. For about HK$100 I got two fish tacos that didn’t taste quite fresh. Granted, that could be because it was a delivery. But I only live in Soho, so it wasn’t that far away.
The tacos were smothered in sauces, which I couldn’t obviously take away.
I heard us for dinner, and my stomach was already growling/turning before bedtime. I had to wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom to get rid of the food by diarrhoea.
I definitely won’t eat there again, especially not by food panda
Outstanding taco joint with reasonable pricing and serving size.
I grew up in LA and i can tell you, my fellow Americans, this is probably the most authentic Mexican food you can find in HK.
It won’t be the Mexican food you’re used to in LA or on the border of TJ but the ingredients they use is pretty close. I wish the pico de gallo had more kicks I did order on panda food so maybe they got my heat incorrect, oh well, that just means I’ll need to make a trip to SYP to try out their other tacos and burritos.

Definitely the best Mexican food I’ve had in Hong Kong so far. Then again, the only other Mexican place I’ve been to is Cali-Mex and that’s basically the Mc Donalds of Mexican food.
I really enjoyed the food. Had myself the “Pollo” burrito bowl and beef tacos. Loved it a lot. The burrito bowl was definitely my favorite. Prices are reasonable for the rice bowls, might be a little expensive for the tacos I feel, but they were good enough for me to swallow up the price. My friends order the pork burrito bowl, breakfast burrito and enchiladas and they were satisfied too.
Definitely recommend and will come back for more!
Best Mexican I’ve had in Hk
Taco Chaca is a simple place serving up Mexican food on 2nd Street in Sai Ying Pun. They have a small indoor seating area and offer up take-away and delivery if preferred. Opening hours are 12pm to 10pm daily.
Recently ordered a Carne Asado Burrito that was delivered in 25 minutes. Order was packaged well and arrived warm. The burrito was well wrapped and nicely packed with decent Asado beef, Mexican rice, refried beans, sour cream, guacamole and served with a small side of salsa. In all honestly, it was a pretty good burrito, better than what I normally find from the Cali-Mex Mexican chain which has quite a few branches around the city.
Will order from Taco Chaca again based on my recent burrito experience, may try one of their taco sets next time as well.
Super tasty and very authentic Mexican food – so much better than Cali-Mex! Veggie burrito bowl was delicious.
Please add a vegan cheese and sour cream option!
It was ok- it was fast & cheap but nothing special
Overpriced and very underwhelming tacos
Thoughts on three of the dishes:
-Pollo Taco:
Pluses: Nice flavor. Topped with fresh-tasting ingredients and slice of lemon.
Negatives: the amount of chicken in each was a bit less than a tablespoon, yet the tortilla is about the size of my open hand. At sixty for two, seems overpriced.
-Burrito Carne Asada:
Pluses: Good size. Nicely wrapped. Comes with additional onion and salsa topping on the side.
Negatives: Unfortunately, it is basically a rice burrito, and the rice wasn’t THAT great. The amount of meat is also about two tablespoons, which for an 8-inch burrito is very little. Even sadder, all of the meat was inedible, as it was not even meat, but pieces of meat fat – chewy and unappetizing. Not recommended.

-Carnitas Enchilada: Nice flavor. Probably the better one out of the three. Made with one tablespoon of pulled pork in each of three folded tortillas topped with salsa and cheese.
