Great vibe and fantastic food and service. The industrial look with natural wood flooring and furniture give it a fresh modern design, which is also reflected in its modern menu. The fusion of Japanese method and French cuisine offers something unique to people looking for something less run of the mill when dining out. The chicken meats on skewers are very good and the vegetables on the ‘bigger’ menu are amazing.

It was good but not amazing, so I wouldn’t say it’s a “must visit”. It’s $45 per skewer, therefore quite pricey especially as they don’t taste extraordinary. The best dishes I had were the Bicep and Meatball skewers. Nice vibe.

Superb food. Not as charming as their former place in the mid levels but still very interesting decor. The bar personnel are very knowledgeable. They have some vegetarian dishes which are extraordinary particularly the cauliflower, and the corn. The Scottish eggs came highly recommended but were a bit fussy for my taste. We had fish which was superb.
Yardbird is a place I’ve been wanting to try for a while, but honestly I don’t think it was worth the hype. We order a few dishes to try and it was ok, I wouldn’t say it was up to my expectations for the price of their food.

Not worth the hype! Besides the fried chicken that were really crispy and tasty, found the rest of the food sadly disappointing and overpriced.
Half the yakitori we had were well burnt, which totally kills the taste of the food… The skin yakitori was so tiny there was barely anything to eat, don’t order that. Also everything is so rich and greasy, even cucumber salad that was supposed to be refreshing was drenched in mayonnaise instead of a lighter sauce.
Last, the music is very VERY loud, I could not even hear the waitress when she was speaking to my date sitting right in front of me. Forget it if you want to have a conversation there, way to noisy for that!
Glad I’ve tried Yardbird after many failed attempts, but I found it way overrated.

雞肉新鮮度不錯。還不錯，就是不想為了這個味道排隊。玉米天婦羅等油炸食品絕對好吃。氣氛很好，但音樂太大聲且昂貴。需要提示。
Love the bird. Great concept and atmosphere! The chicken sausage and corn tempura are signature menu items. Must try. Don’t be shy to try all different parts of the chicken though. Not to mention the fantastic selection of highballs and attentive customer service!

Food was average but the dining environment was chic & spacious. It’s appealing for customers who prefer drinks & party than food. I ordered deep fried chicken fillet which was quite dry & the dipping sauce was more like BBQ sauce being sold in groceries which was pretty sour but plain….. chicken soup was ok but not as rich.

What a great meal! We went to a bar in central to kill 90 minutes while we waited for a call to be seated, but it was worth it. Yakitori was great, especially the meatball and thigh meats. Next time, I’ll skip the breast to save room for the more flavorful stuff. If you’ve never tried liver, this is a good place to try it! Also highly recommend the scotch egg and corn tempura.
Hipster central restaurant. Very loud music. Food was tasty but expensive. Served a draft beer in the smallest beer glass I’ve ever seen. I question their measures….
One of the best places to go to in Sheungwan if you crave yakitori. Drinks here are good too.

Although a bit pricey, this place was worth every penny. Great service, amazing selection of drinks and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the chicken neck skewer, meatball skewer, katsu sando and sweet corn tempura – but everything we tasted was to die for. They also have some items for purchase that you can bring home such as the Coffee Shochu. Great branding and design too! Cool vibe.
Great yakitori options, good for a casual night-out. Loved the neck, skin and meatball skewers in particular. The sweet corn tempura was nice too – sweet, crunchy, though a tad crumbly. They also have a good selection of Japanese beers. They don’t take reservations though, and when I reached at 6pm (when the restaurant opens), there was already a bit of a queue.

Brilliant beak to butt chicken joint. Everything we had was top notch. The scotch egg and neck meat skewer was particularly good.
Take a group and try lots of things, the wine list is sharp too.

入口吧台一側人很多，如果在餐廳後部預約的話，可以安心用餐。
Yardbird is a Japanese Yakatori specialist on Wing Lok Street in Sheung Wan. Opening hours are 6pm to 12am (dinner) daily. The restaurant is closed on Sundays. This is a very popular place, particularly for the younger crowd in Hong Kong.
We recently dined here and enjoyed trying some of the 18 different types of Chicken skewers on the menu. Recommended order size is 3-4 skewers per person as well as a main shared dish or two for every two people. They offer a nice list of sake, Japanese whiskey and highball cocktails at Yardbird as well.
We found everything we tried at Yardbird to be pretty good However, during our meal we most enjoyed the Miso breast with parsley, basil and garlic. The duck rice was a good complement to the skewers.
Note – No reservations are taken at this first-come-first-served restaurant. There is a large dining area with lots of seats. Service is friendly, attentive and quite fast. The interior is smartly decorated for an urban based restaurant. It does get rather loud inside with music played at rather high volume. Just something to keep in mind.
Anyone familiar with the food scene in Hong Kong has definitely heard about the Yardbird, if they haven’t tried it yet. The food is great & the quality is superb. Highly recommended.
Fun bar, super cocktails. But serves ONLY chicken.
I went in expecting a snooty dining experience, but I was thoroughly impressed by how good the food was.
The yakitori was good, but on is own, there are other places around town you can go to. However, many of the bigger side dishes were fantastic.
Bring friends and just order a bunch of dishes, there wasn’t a bad dish
