Quaint little modern yakitori spot in Sheung wan. Friendly service with a comfortable seating environment and lively Japanese music playing.

We love yakitori and it’s always nice to find a new spot that has passionate chefs and delicious options. We were greeted with some tea and a complimentary welcome appetizer of grilled dried puffer fish. Of course we got the typical skewers: chicken breast cartilage, chicken skin, wings, tail, thigh, and gizzard. The breast cartilage was juicy and crunchy! But to be honest, all of it was juicy and crunchy, which can be really tricky with yakitori sometimes. Overcooking is always a risk – sometimes one skewer is juicy while the next is a bit less juicy. But the skewers here are all cooked evenly so you get the perfect hit of juicy flavor with the satisfying yakitori crunch that you are craving haha! The gizzard here was especially crunchy. We had a lovely chat with the chefs and server who were patient enough to answer our questions and tell us about their ingredients and prep process.

We ended our meal with the chicken soup udon which was homey, rich, and basically soup for the soul. This spot uses local Hong Kong “yellow chicken” and the flavor really is distinctly different from Japanese yakitori. If you’re in the area and looking for a chill spot to get your yakitori fix, this is a great spot to visit.

Thought was one of the best yakitori I had in HK. All the chicken skewers we ordered were big hits, chicken wings ordered twice cause too good. Other meat and vegetables were also great.
