Great foie gras terrine and beef tartare
The surcharges for selected dishes and nordaq water can add up though.

This little gem is wonderful. The service is good and the food is excellent. A real winner! My favourite restaurant in Hong Kong at the moment. I couldn’t think of a negative thing to say about this fabulous diminutive restaurant. They know what they are offering and they do it really, really well.
Was so excited to bring my colleagues to Bouillon after hearing great reviews from friends. The service was professional yet warm, accomodating and friendly. The menu is small and focused, with great choices thats fantastic for sharing.
The food was absolutely superb, really reminded me of the corner bistros in Nice and Cannes, where the cooking is honest, spot on, no bells and whistles, just great technique and flavourful. My absolute favourite was the grilled skate wings, just roasted with a punchy caper/ lemon sauce – make sure you have spaetzle or the roasted spuds at hand to soak it up! The Tuna tartare was fresh and generous, and the grilled bone marrow was unctuous, savoury and indulgent. The creme brulee set in passionfruit cups was tangy, silky and a perfect portion for someone who ate too much but still needed dessert.
Can’t wait for date night to come here again!

Truly deserving of its perfect 5* reviews. Had a better meal than a number of Michelin starred places I’ve been lucky enough to try. The classics delivered brilliantly. Beef cheek bourguignon was exceptional. Service spot on, pricing sensible, decor/vibe great. Excellent.

Incredible! Every dish was perfect and service is excellent.
First of all, the food was on point, very nice, authentic French cuisine. However, the service was very very disappointing, which brought down the entire dining experience. Before I even asked, the waiter slapped the HKD2,000 bill on the table without a word and walked away. Come 8:05pm, the head waiter came and whispered “we need the table” and again, walked away. I STILL HAVEN’T FINISH MY WINE. While I understand it’s tough for restaurants during COVID to generate revenue, some words of communication or a table rearrangement would still be expected for a restaurant like this. You are not a cha chaan teng after all. I hope this was not a race thing but I do wonder if someone white would be treated this way.

Excellent food for affordable prices.
A cozy French restaurant with causal and friendly ambience. Veal tartar is quite an exception dish particularly in Hong Kong and it was well prepared. The ox tongue with celery root was an interesting dish. A good balance between th ox tongue and the acidity of the celery root indeed. The pork tenderloin and piegon, it would be better if they were a tiny bit more seasoned but meat was tender. The rice pudding was a surprisingly good dessert but pretty filling. Helpers were attentive and good recommendation on wine. And the bread was really good too.
Creative and authentique bistro cuisine by Johan Ducroquet, savvy prices on wine and food ( for a happy bill) . Cozy atmosphere and warm staff better to make a reservation in advance.

Another good recommendation from a friend. Our son chose to go here for his birthday celebration and we all enjoyed our meal. A small restaurant but ideally sized creating an intimate dining experience. We arrived a little earlier than our booking, however, we were invited to sit at the bar for an aperitif while we waited. Our table was at the back, up the stairs, it quiet and the toilets are nearby. It was okay but if you have choice sit down for the restaurant atmosphere. We are a family of meat eaters and vegetarians/ pescatarians. We all found something good on the menu. We would definitely come back as we would like to try the week set menu.
提前一週在官網上訂的週間午餐，價格是228港幣有前菜和主菜，我們另外要了跟餐紅白酒，68港幣一杯。
前菜：
oeuf mayo半熟糖心蛋加上美乃滋和魚子醬，就是一道精緻的開胃菜，味道一如預期。
ceviche 新鮮的魚生搭配檸檬、蘋果、香草，酸酸甜甜又清爽。
主菜：
tartare de boeuf 不誇張的說，這真的是我在香港吃過最好吃的牛肉塔塔。除了份量夠大以外，鹹香酸搭配融合的恰到好處，絕對是這家餐廳必吃的一道菜！
la parmentier de bouillon 羊肉也很令人驚喜，羊味十足入口軟嫩，搭配底下的馬鈴薯泥和香草，絕對可以輕易吃完一整盤。
這家餐廳從開幕以來就一直是我的心頭好，彼時還是198港幣三道菜，天天座無虛席一位難求。後來我估計是根據供需法則漲價了，現在確實比以前容易訂位多了，食物素質也有維持剛剛開幕時的水準。只能說一分錢一分貨，好吃有水準的法國小餐館也不是這麼常見的！

Bouillon is a Parisian style bistro that offers up a nice venue for French dining in Sheung Wan. This new place opened around 6-7 months ago on Pound Lane, just off Hollywood Road and is quite popular at the moment. As such, best to make reservations on their website if you want peak lunch or dinner time seating.
What you find is a small bistro with a long bar and wall side both seating, very similar to the small bistros you may recall from trips to Paris. Menu is a nice range of French favourites, they have daily specials on the wall as well and a nice selection of aperitif and wine choices to enjoy along with your meal. We found service to be personal and attentive throughout our meal as well.
On the evening we dined at Bouillon, we enjoyed the foie gras starter. This was a nice serving of duck liver terrine that tasted as expected, a nice way to start our meal. For mains, we enjoyed their Rossini, a perfectly grilled tenderloin at medium rare temperature, topped with pan fried foie grass and black truffle. The beef quality was pretty good, made for a better than average Rossini by Hong Kong standards.
We also had the roasted pigeon that was grilled beautifully, leaving the poultry properly red, gamey and near livery in texture. Served with Jerusalem artichoke puree with subtle hints of coffee powder and cocoa sauce, this was a very good main. Our meal was finished with a nicely prepared vanilla rice pudding.
Overall, a pretty good showing by Bouillon on the evening. Dinner was a somewhat pricey affair but environs are really nice and the meal pretty good. It was a nice evening out, a good French dining experience in Sheung Wan.
記得前一陣好似睇雜誌介紹個這間法國餐廳小店話性價比高，於是今日中午有時間一於去上環試試。這小店可以在網上訂位，不過如果閣下想walk in lunch or dinner,我諗最好唔好，因為餐廳都幾full.
午餐提供lunch set 大约200起跳，有前菜，主菜，甜品，亦有红白酒啤酒供應。
有D係唔需要加$，但我今日叫嘅菜式全部都要加$，例如鹅肝，主菜嘅鸭肉等等。
不得不提，這裡的麵包好好食，最初我都以為自己會食唔哂，但係由於佢嘅鹅肝實在太好食，不知不覺全部食哂，唔信試過你就知。食物賣相合格有餘，而且味道唔錯，但未至於好大驚喜，不過小店格局，已交足功課，餐廳環境好有特色，整個用餐氣氛好好，待應招呼殷勤，大部份人客超過一半是外國人。仿佛去左外國旅遊一樣。
總括而言，感覺到小店用心，大家有興趣不妨去感受一吓。

We came here on 26 June with a booking at 14:00. We were seated at the bar as we arrived early and ordered drinks.
For those of us not drinking alcohol, we were disappointed at the lack of soft drinks offered (only Coke).
In terms of alcohol, there is a very large selection!!
The service was very good and friendly, and the courses arrived at a good pace, warm and fresh.
The food was of very good quality and there was a good selection (with vegetarian options).
For me personally, it was a bit too expensive, but the rest of my group were happy.
Bathrooms were also clean.
Nice decor and the temperature of the restaurant was nice and cool.

– the Burgundy Snails🐌tasted blend even with the strong olive oil and herbs. The ingredients had no communication again

– Traditional dish with no surprise
TARTARE DE VEAU
– The veal tartarte doesn’t have a strong veal taste. For the one who doesn’t like the taste of beef, it’s good.
– Scallops Sashimi doesn’t have a significant taste as well, not umami enough
– texture of both veal tartare and scallop were springly, quite nice
CONFIT DE CANARD
– the Duck🦆Leg’s skin was not crispy, the meat were overcooked. Disappointing

– Strict table time limit as the resto was fully booked, staff initiatively offer us to continue drinking and dining at the bar seats. Quite Nice
– they serve Orange Wine which is not quite common in HK resto, recommend to have a try. The Orange Wine made me thought of my🇵🇱Poland Trip, which is the first place I tasted Orange Wine and that was so good @stephanieyeeman

Very nice food and ambiance ☺️!
The food was good, but a few things took away from the experience . First, the server forgot to bring us our water even though we were asked twice if we wanted still or sparkling. Also, we saw others getting bread but we weren’t given until we asked. Then, we were told the daily dessert was apple crumble, but somehow changed to a passion fruit Creme brûlée last minute.
If you really want to feel something…come to this place. Food is amazing,so tasty and delicious.
The combination of flavors is interesting, well thought out. The presentation of the dishes also, with a lot of finesse.
Just a small minus on the service, the waitresses were a bit confused and always came to our table to see if they could remove the plates..or we had not yet finished.
However, other than that … the cuisine borders on perfection. I highly recommend this place.
A bit cramped (like a typical Parisien bistro), but great food (amazing beef!) and friendly staff. I strongly recommend advanced booking as the place gets full very fast.

Food was great at first, but I found something looked like hair in my “slow cooked pork cheek” and had no appetite🤮The server (the man was wearing eyeglasses) was taken aback when I told this to him. “Oh my goodness, let me ask the manager,” this is exactly what he said. I have waited for his explanation or apology, but NOTHING happened. It bursted my bubble and I will NOT recommend this restaurant to others.
Bouillon is a delight in Hong Kong. Fairly new, it exceeds on all levels your expectations. From the classy interior, the freshness of ingredients and the superb french cooking, a treat!
Bizarre shenanigans by the owner unfortunately let down this establishment, which has much potential due to its great location and unique decor.
They display a sign outside which says Happy Hour is offered from Tues-Sun 3-7pm (attaching a picture here for posterity). We sat down for a glass of wine at 5pm Sunday and were told by the waitress that there is actually no happy hour. When asked why there was sign outside which said there was a happy hour, she shrugged (perhaps embarrassed by how ridiculous a lie it is and probably having had to tell many previous visitors the same) and walked away.
To make matters worse, this was after we had been told they don’t serve tap/filtered water, but only offer a choice of two different paid waters (never a great sign to begin with).
We had two decent glasses of very regular price rose and then left.
2 stars only because we got a good laugh out of the entire situation.
p.s. Having taken a final scientific look on our way out, we ascertained that the sign is not in fact hard-coded into the wall. It seems to be stuck to the wall outside with some kind of crazy sticky tack technology. Friendly note to the manager/owner (if you are reading this) – with some modicum of physical force, it may be possible to take down this misleading piece of communications. Go on, you can do it if you try hard enough 🙂

Fantastic food & Venue but some serious training needed with staff for this quality of Restaurant. Sort the uninforms, black is good. Stop them removing 1 plate if the other diner is not finished. Messed up the invoices. Need to pick up your game for the price.

If you are looking for a good fine dining restaurant, this is definitely not the one. People here don’t care about customer service.
I had a lunch with a friend here today, spend $1600 for great food, but the environment and service were so bad.
There’s one particular table that’s extremely loud and annoying. Two men talked really loud, said mean things about women, and they spoke a lot of swear words as well.
While my friend and I complained about the noise from that table to two servers and one of the bosses, they did not take any action or say anything at all. We asked one of the servers to turn up the volume of the music, but honestly it’s not really helping. Overall the whole experience is very disappointing, and it’s hard to enjoy the food or chat with friends here.
Amazingly good and super consistent. Highly recommend! Especially bone marrow, escargot, beef cheek. Skate fish if they have it under specials.
