Very good and authentic food. Fried morning glory was exceptional!
Fantastic food and service
In a phrase – tasty food but hugely overpriced!
The flavors of Thailand ring true but the bill at the end of our meal for three was nearing HK$3,000.
Food is really really good
Service needs to be worked on a bit
Good authentic Thai flavours with a twist, crowded market food stall setting probably not the most comfortable but you’ll find this place always busy. One of the go to places for a nice evening!
Lovely food, happening place with great vibe. Busy even on a Monday evening.
Absolutely delicious northern Thai food! Bang on flavours! Have been here now a few times and decided to also try their lunch deal out… pretty good value and always good service
Food is good, not the greatest but real Thai style, but really overpriced for some dishes and the environment. For example crab omelette is all egg but around 5-8% 🦀 but it charges around $150.
Seating area is not comfortable, $600 for two people dinner but you sit really close (less than 0.5m) with the 2 couples next to you. If the price is 80% of what it is now I’d come again.
Great experience, lovely fresh food and homely ambiance
The food is always so awesome whenever I eat here. Never disappointed. It’s got that authentic Thai feel but also a modern twist
Really tasty Thai food!
Great food, decent price, quantity for the price is maybe off a little.
The flavors were consistently wonderful throughout five different dishes our group ordered. From fresh crisp lettuce to the sinfully fluffy coconut rice the textures were just as good as the flavors.
No meal being perfect, the only flaw I see at Chachawan would be the comparison between the quantity of food vice the price. I understand many fine restaurants charge a premium, however most of them provide some superior level of experience. Being a small quaint locale burrowed within street after street of random dining establishments they just don’t deliver enough of that intangible to justify the price.
One of the great Thai places in HK.
Outstanding for the food but also atmosphere. Nice music and good cocktails !
Food is legit. I’m Thai and I approve. The price is premium for the great service and how real to Isan they keep it.
Some tasty food, shame no aircon (it was a hot humid day!)
Decent Thai food; really enjoy eating here
I had higher expectations. Food taste not to my liking. Ambience is good, very popular. Maybe better for eve drinks
Limited menu. Some traditional thai dishes not available.
Very delicious Thai dishes in a relaxed setting. Be prepared for strong and spicy flavours. Prices on the higher end but good quality ingredients. The coconut ice cream dessert was amazing!
Not the typical thai food one gets in Kowloon City, yet very nice ad refreshing
Popular Thai restaurant with a menu of favourites.
Had lemon tea and Pad thai for HK$118. Both delivered quickly and beautifully presented but the taste didn’t match. The Pad thai was bland and had a sweet aftertaste.
Excellent Thai food and service.
The best Thai food in hong kong. We love their set lunch and pad thai
My friend and I had wanted to try out Chachawan before the third wave of COVID-19 hit, and finally we got our chance after the social gathering ban was slightly lifted.
One thing I like about trying out different restaurant is that, I got to learn about the food culture in different part of the world. This time it’s about Isaan food. I know what Thai food is like, but this is the first time I heard about Isaan food, and I fell in love with it after having a lunch in Chachawan.
We ordered three dishes to share. Seasonal offer always catches our attention. And that’s why this Seafood Tom Yum Soup Noodles was the first dish we ordered.
The Tom Yum soup base was a legit sour and spicy one, so delicious! And the toppings definitely gave us a nice surprise! The egg was a soft boiled egg with runny egg yolk! There were generous amount of shrimp, crab, squid, and fish balls. The piece of crunch was superb too! The noodles were quite grassy yet sticky though.
We were craving for some meat, and thought a chicken skewer would be nice. And this Gai Yung — chicken thigh marinated for 24 hours in garlic, pepper, coriander and served with jhim jeaw — seemed to be the right choice. However, we were genuinely taken aback when the dish was served. The two chicken thigh pieces were enormous!!! And what fascinated us most was that, these pieces of thick and huge chicken thigh were perfectly grilled with a crispy skin! How amazing is that! The jhim jeaw on the side made a great dressing for the skewer. A surprising, filling and delicious dish.
We almost passed this tasty Kai Jiaw, as we were quite full after the bowl of Tom Yum Soup Noodles and (gigantic) chicken skewer. Luckily we did not, as this dish was a gem. Kai Jiaw — Thai omelet of crab, spring onions and sriracha sauce — was a pancake like omelet stuffed with lots of crab meat. It made a really delicious and filling dish without making you feeling stuffed. Highly recommend this dish to you!
We were too full for dessert this time. Definitely visiting again for more great dishes and desserts!
So happy chachawan is back 🙂
Love the new corn salad on the menu.
Grilled sliced wagyu beef is a must to order, it comes with a very special HOT HOT HOT sauce.
I came here last month for the first time in a while and found that they had changed the menu and possibly the chef. Whatever was special about chachawan before is gone now. The price is still sky high though, so they’ve still got that. Everything I tried on the new menu was depressingly bland, including the “Thai milk tea”, which was basically just regular HK milk tea with a marked up price. Don’t bother.
This is a casual restaurant and I suppose it serves its purpose if you are in the neighborhood. Doesn’t call for a special trip at all.
Frankly, it is near impossible to find a great Thai place in Hong Kong, let along ones that would specialize in some regional cooking and does it well.
Still, a cheerful place if you must come to this area.
Well done, good and original taste. A bit pricey though
This place has been on my list for years and I happened to be around the area so gotta give it a try. Turned out it did not disappoint at all. Ordered the Gai Yung, Khao Pad and the Kanom Dtom. The Gai Yung are 2 big pieces of tender & juicy chicken marinated for 24 hours in garlic, pepper and coriander; the spicy sauce that came with it was heavenly that you can’t miss it. The Khao Pad (wok fried rice of crab meat, egg & spring onions) was packed with a generous portion of crab meat and flavorful but the sauce on the side was overly salty for my taste which I just left it pretty much untouched. The Kanom Dtom is a traditional Thai dessert and I never thought the salted coconut cream would mix so well with the sweetness; the shredded coconut filling was a bit too sweet for me but maybe because I had 4 of them; probably best to share this awesome dessert with more people. Lastly the complementary mango that was served with a lemon grass and spicy salt. A interesting and refreshing combo which went well along with the mango.
A must in Sheung Wan if not HK for delicious Thai food and nice atmosphere. Cocktails are great too.
Very delicious Thai dishes. We tried their pomelo salad, grilled chicken thigh and coconut ice cream. All of them were done well. The coconut ice cream was especially refreshing. Price is on the high side.
Great food, with the Tang and spicy flavors of the Issan region of Thailand. I recommend getting three dish’s per two people and and adding one more per person from there. My traditional go to is the pork neck with a side of stick rice, and anything with king prawn or similar shellfish.

Delicious thai food – not entirely authentic thai because the dishes are adapted in ways that are slightly western. But flavorful nonetheless with nice staff and good atmosphere.
Favourite Thai place coming from someone who lived in Bangkok for 15 years. Love the Thai sausage Chiangmai style and moo ping & sticky rice!
Meatless options available!
Quite authentic Thai street food!
After a month in Thailand, I was happy to come back to Hong Kong for the best Thai food I’ve found… here at Chachawan. Almost nothing on their menu disappoints, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. It’s been my go-to for as long as I can remember.
Good Thai food!!!!!, but previously food choice better…
So clean. And the food so yummy and also the waiters are super accommodating. Thanks
Great food and good service. Will definitely come back again.
It’s a place I have been before but not reviewed. Fantastic value and fresh food, I loved the chicken thighs marinated for 24 hours. 4.5 stars if this was an option, but the location a value tips it to five for me.
A cool place to chill out with extraordinary food
We had the crab friend rice too! It was absolutely delicious- would go back again 100%. Pomelo salad was notably flavourful
Hands down my favorite Thai restaurant in town. Service and food are both consistent and good. Highly recommend.
Come slightly earlier to avoid lines. Although I do think the tables turn quite quickly, so other than dinner times, the wait isn’t long.
The food is simply delicious and very authentic. Great service and resasonable prices too.
Excellent food. The crab fried rice and chicken thighs on skewers are amazing! The crab omelette was okay. No Set Lunches available right now, only A La Carte. Worth the hype.
Service was slow. Took ages to get my crab fried rice.
However food tasted good.
Restaurant is quite spacious inside, so dont be fooled by the small entrance.
Amazing Thai food, always fresh and delicious with that typical Thai umami balance of salty, sweet, sour and spicy. The staff are always friendly, a must visit whenever I am in the neighborhood.
