Fresh baked bread!? …
It’s about time you opened in Kowloon. Hope to see more branches of these goodies!
? …
Bakehouse’s eggtarts were so famous.
But I went to this branch to get a taste of the exclusive salted egg and caramel custard bolo bao. The bread texture was a too airy for my liking. There was more sweetness than saltiness.
Worth the queueing time
The best is always worth waiting for? …
Finally in Kowloon!!?? …
Absolutely love their egg tarts and danish
No words indeed
Sourdough is good.
Conveniently located bakery that offers great bread and pastries, and also coffee, everything to take out only. The coffee is reasonably priced, and strong, which is great. There seems to be a queue usually, as the place is rather popular, so factor in a wait. The staff are professional and efficient. Overall a great experience, and great produce.
The best of Kowloon
Great egg tarts indeed! I wouldn’t say the best yet. I was wondering what’s the hype about since there is always this long queue outside the door and so I decided to queue up for 15mins to try their baked goods. I bought 2 doughnuts ( vanilla cream and chocolate) very soft but less filling inside. Also almond danish and croissant, not really the best i have tried. I would certainly say for me its not worth the long wait where i could easily enjoy Maison’s or Pret’s buttery croissants.
small shop and a bit overpriced
A true bakery on good price??? …
Good food good service, best croissant in hk
Mediocre Apple crumble. Haven’t taste the sourdough yet.
Best, authentic breads in hong kong, sourdough, country bread are wow
I’ve been bake house’s customer since 2018 when it only had a store in Wan Chai. As a loyal customer, I was delighted to see it expanding across HK, let alone I get to enjoy delicious baked goods and coffee anywhere even in front of my new neighborhood. Until yesterday. I saw its branch in TST and went in there to grab a quick coffee on the go. First the coffee tasted like nothing I’ve tasted in any of the bake house – it was way too sour as if the milk gone bad. I had the same coffee at soho branch a week ago so I knew this was not the same taste. Second, I asked for a bit more of oat milk and the staff gave me a look and reluctantly added the tinest splash I’ve ever seen that would definitely not make any difference in taste. I asked nicely for a little bit more and she said next time just ask a half a shot less adding even tinier splash. I know my coffee and what I am getting. I know it is not too much to ask to add a bit more milk. I am shocked and very disappointed since I know the service level of bake house was impeccable with friendly staff members. As much as I love the brand and their product, Bake house needs to revisit their staff training status-quo and strategy.

very tasty croissant, french approved ?? …
Egg tarts are amazing, sadly they missed part of my order. Take out only
Bakehouse first opened in Wanchai 4-5 years ago and has been wildly popular since. You will often find long queues outside their shop to this day. The same has been the case at the place they opened in Soho a couple years back. Now bakehouse has opened on Hankow Road in TST and similar to their first two bakeries, the queues right now are pretty long to get in and purchase their freshly backed breads, pastries, tarts and other bakery items.
This new bakehouse is presently open from 8am to 6pm daily. They are managing the queue pretty well. We were probably 40th in queue during a recent afternoon visit. Managed to get into the bakery after just 10 minutes or so.
Note: You can see through the large window while standing in the queue beside the bakery to get an idea of what is available on the day. Best to have an idea what you want as you approach the counter so you can order quickly. Bakery staff will quickly bag your items and have you ready to go. You can pay by cash, Octopus, credit card and apple pay.
During our first visit, we ordered 4 of their sour dough tarts, which are so good. These are the closest thing we have to the delicious Portuguese style tarts in Macau but with sour dough crust and less sweet egg filling – just subtle differences. Importantly, bakehouse tarts are very good.
On this occasion, we ordered their apple crumble danish, a heavier than usual danish with flaky but thick crust, custard filling, tarty apple and big crumbles. This is a very good breakfast item, as is their Cinnamon Pecan Roll, which we often order from the bakehouse bakeries.
Lastly, we tried a new item, the Beef Rendang Pie! Have never seen this Indonesian style beef filling served up in a pie! Happy to report that it worked pretty well. The beef brisket was stewed fairly, not as soft and succulent as it could have been but the flavour was nice and worked well with the buttery layers of the pie crust. Would happily order this again for a late afternoon snack or to have at home with a dark beer. Of note, sausage rolls are now on offer at bakehouse and they are another really good savoury item.
In the end, we are seeing queues at the three bakehouse branches that sometimes rival what Jenny’s Bakery used to experience during the tourism heydays. The difference is that was a tourist phenomenon driven. Today’s queues are the result of bakehouse being beloved by locals who want delicious and high quality bakery items by Chef Grégoire Michaud.
Nice egg tart and crossiant

One of the best bakeries in HK, the sourdough egg tarts are a MUST. full of flavourz flaky and not too sweet, and perfect baalance of savouriness.
The foccacia are phenominal too, got the sausage one and topped off the treats woth a 66%hot chocolate, for a city that does food very well, theres not many places that serve dark (relatively in this case) hot chocolate readily.
Sadly there was no matcha cookies which i was looking forward to, just means i have to make another visit!
一
Get the egg tarts sooooo good
a small no-seat great bakery.
Egg tarts and the pretzels are especially delicious. Living for it
bad customer service and food tastes mediocre but charges premium price, 1 out of 5
I love bakehouse for their bread mostly. Also, on Island their coffee is very good. At TST they need to hire a proper educated barista as both the coffee and service is subpar.
Price bit high for fundamental citizen
Great range of baked goods. The croissant was fresh, light and flaky. Could have benefitted from a light toast. Decent coffee too, though the sizes are small. A shame there was no dine-in option.
