Bad attitude ruins ok bread
During harsh COVID dining hours, restaurants are normally flexible, NOT Gontran Cherrier.
My kids and I wanted to have a quick lunch at 1:00pm on Sat. With an empty restaurant behind him (see pic), the waiter told us we need to spend at least $100 per person to have a seat, as this is the “PEAK HOUR”.
We buy bread here, as they are ok, but clearly, it’s not a place to dine in, as they don’t want your business even when it’s empty. Is this arrogance, inflexibility, or just outright stupidity? You decide.
Pricey but the bread is real great. One 9f the best in town.
Gontran Cherrier 嘅牛角包相信好多人都識,餅店那邊一出鑪,逛街的人聞香而至,長龍不絕。
平時買麵包多,今日試吓坐底食個午餐。
價錢又沒有想像中貴,合理。
洋蔥湯配四重芝士包
洋蔥湯好多料,味道甜美,好香。
四重芝士包是重頭戲,嘩…入口即係散發多重芝士香,芝味滋味。
南瓜,羽衣甘藍,腰果意大利飯
金黃色澤好吸引。
粒粒意大利飯吸收晒南瓜嘅精華,好好味。硬度又適中。
嘴嚼途中,又有腰果粒粒,增加了口感。
龍蝦汁海鮮扁意粉
呢個就普通咗啲,沒有驚喜。
醬汁不夠濃味,遜色了。
麵包超級美味 特別是牛角包

Food was excellent, but service was awful. Maybe it was an attempt to give a really authentic Parisian experience, but it was a bit too accurate for Hong Kong.

買咗個抹茶杏仁牛角包($32)同原味scone($17)
番到屋企即刻食,牛角包唔覺得好味,好普通…可能中心有餡嘅關係,中間一啲都5鬆軟,好淋、一pat 嘢咁?其實買嗰陣時外觀都唔脹卜卜….
不過個鬆餅好味,外皮脆身而裡面濕潤鬆,牛油味重,好香。
下次會試吓原味牛角包,中間冇餡應該會外脆內鬆,可以試到佢啲真功夫 ?

Croissants ! definitely going again.
The bread here is definitely a hero here. Texture and taste are super The grill cheese sandwich is very different from all the rest and remarkable, from bread to choice of cheese. Salad is average But with good portion. Drink is very average. Decent price point and seating is very spacious and comfy.

原味牛角包外皮酥脆,內面鬆軟,牛油味非常非常香,又唔會太油膩
Ordered a french onion soup and penne with sausage and chorizo. The french onion soup is served with cheesy bread, but the cheese is not melty and the soup is kinda just salty but without the sweetness from the onion
The penne is very nice. Flavorful but a bit salty for me. The spicy, creamy sauce made me want to dip some breads and clean the plate. Quite tasty.

麵包特別好食,美食亦佳
Very disappointing. I bought a raspberry meringue croissant and a garlic bread (total: $52). Garlic bread had a very SWEET taste as if they used sugar instead of salt, it was seriously nauseating. The croissant was meh. There’s a long line and as you get your pastries before getting in the line, everything that was warm when you took are pretty stale at the end.
Wasn’t planned to write a review as the pastries are good and well known. But just found out they stopped selling the orange & chocolate brioche which was surprisingly my favourite of this shop as I don’t usually like chocolate and brioche. Hope they will resume it someday.
So here’s the full review – organised two “group purchase” for my family as three of my siblings got covid around the same time so we have basically tried almost everything here though in different households. The cheese danish toast seems to be loved by everyone as all re-ordered it the second time (sadly not me as I don’t eat cheese). Brownies should be good too as my sister ordered 4 at a time and I also found it not too sweet yet crispy. The mixed dried fruit rye bread is soft and tasty even on day 2 or 3, though not my favourite as I prefer sourdough. All in all, quite pricey as I seldom spent almost a thousand on pastries but all are of good quality and worth a try.

Good food and not crowded
The coffee and food was great! Love the minimal interior.
Nice and reasonable price
Food was decent and met expectation. All things were generally average. Decoration was good, it’s not crowded but I couldn’t say it’s comfortable sitting there.
If you can get the croissants fresh from the oven, do try them. They are nice. We also got another croissant with meringue on top that wasn’t fresh from the oven, and that one wasn’t anything to write home about.
Actually I thought the financiers were better. The raspberry one was delicious, with just the right amount of tang.
I would come back sometime to try more things, as they do offer substantial variety. But as far as French bakeries in HK go, I still prefer Plumcot.
the attitude is so bad, they non stop asking us to order up to 50hkd per person, which we said we’ll order more later. Not recommend coming at all. They can’t even split the bill
Croissants were crispy on the outside, but couldn’t taste the butter, there are better ones out there even in HK, definitely not worth queuing for.
p.s. There is usually a queue because they only have one till to pay and work as slow as possible, therefore deliberately creating the illusion of a long queue.

Delicate crisp on the outside, a generous bite would make you feel like an explosion of buttery flavours in the mouth, soft and having the right amount of moist in the mouthfill. Having a bite together a sip of Americano – speechless, just SOO SATISFYING! ??♀️
Other than the classic, they offer a wide selections of crossiants, like green tea crossiant, raspberry cloud crossiant, etc. But I simply left those for my family to enjoy, no doubt all taste so good that they’re all gone on the next morning.

Texture of the bakery are so good
But, why they always shove so much sweet filling in them to ruin them.
The matcha scone is good on its own!!
