NED KELLY’S LAST STAND

It’s’ been years since I was there, but if I ever get back to Hong Kong, Ned’s will be my first stop. Great music, great beer, great atmosphere. If you go to Hong Kong and don’t go to Ned’s, it’ll be a sad loss.

Superb live jazz in a classic setup

Come here for the music in Christmas. Nice atmosphere. Definitely Good Jazz start at 9:30pm. But the place is small so it is hard to move arround or leave your seat.

We had homemade fish finger with salad & chips, Chicken & chips, Beef pie & chips. I like the fish finger most, and I don’t like the beef pie crust it is too soaky. We spent HKD200 per person during Christmas night. The food is not bad but overpriced. I will come back for the music.

The live music in the place was too loud for a jazz cover band in my opinion and service was borderline rude. Three stars because once you had your drink and the music switched back to playback the bar was ok. Certainly a nice contrast to the average bar in the area.

I love jazz music. I wanted to go to the one on the peninsula but that location had closed. But I came across this place! There were many foreigners, I felt like I was in a different country. It was a really lively atmosphere, where the musicians and audience can enjoy the music together as one. Usually I like to listen to relaxed jazz, but this kind of interactive performance was new and so much fun. The drinks were ok, reasonably priced, but if you want to have fun, enjoy good music and have drinks, this is the place for you.

This place regularly features live classic New Orléans style jazz in a place made to look like a wild west saloon. Perhaps not super avant-garde / incongruous for the heart of Asia but the musicians are very skilled and play with infectious joy. No cover charge. Price of drinks reasonable by HK standards. Thumbs up from me! 🙂

My first bar visit to Hongkong and it’s a really cozy place. It makes your feel good to see the band enjoying what they are playing. Can’t wait to go there again.

Excellent live music bar. A ‘must see’ if you are in the area.

Good live jazz

爵士樂表演真的很刺激，好久沒喝啤酒了。我們旁邊的桌子上有很多興奮的美國人，所以我們的朋友們一起跳舞……留下了很多回憶。
另一個評論說我8:30必須去，所以我那個時候就去了，舞台視野好的座位那個時候都坐滿了。提供點心，不過要等好一陣子，所以我覺得8:00以後再去一點，喝杯啤酒等著也不錯。
食物味道不怎麼好，不過作為啤酒點心吃還是很合適的。

I mostly stay only a few hours in Hong Kong on the way home from China. A visit to Ned Kelly is a must- great food, music and people. Live music in the evenings!

氣氛一流

I spent my first night out in Hong Kong here back in 1988 before venturing into the hinterlands of China on some misguided youthful, backpacking adventure. It was a wonderful way to start the trip. And not much has changed 30 years later. A bunch of friendly expats in the back bar tell gruesome and hilarious tales of errant nights out while the swing band churns out foot tapping delights punctuated by the sardonic wit of the bandleader, whose North-East accent lingers despite a lifetime out here. Ir;’s a great place to come in TST, have a beer and some OK food, listen to a 16 piece band and retire with old standards and Hong Kong tales ringing in your ears.
