This five star comes with a caveat – you must ask the bartender for a custom cocktail, not something standard from the menu to ensure you get an interesting drink. Standard cocktails, unless you specify the liquors, are made with bog-standard bottles and generally disappointing, so you have to know what you like. A typical Japanese bar, they always have seasonal fresh fruits, so that’s a good place to start, but even with non-fruit cocktails, just tell them you want something creative and tell them flavour profiles you normally like.

A once great Japanese Whiskey bar turned into another standard cocktail bar. As if there weren’t enough of those in HK already. Have to find a new favourite bar for my visits to HK.

Amazing cocktail skill and great service!

Cozy, charming bar with excellent staff — they make a cocktail based on the flavors and liquors you’re in the mood for. Strong Japanese character, even if the bartenders themselves are locals. And surprise: there’s a solid selection of Western and Thai bar snacks and entrees. Buonasera is very, very similar to the busier Japanese cocktail bars beneath it, so it’s a great alternative when the others are packed!

低消要200元港幣的Bar，連點餐都需要用英文溝通才比較順利！若坐在吧台邊感覺一定會更棒～

High class drinks and excellent service. The minimum charge of 200hkd seems a bit off and was inconvenient. Don’t know what justifies it, haven’t experienced that in other bars so far. The interior of the bar is not very special and for the price category disappointingly simple and cold. I wouldn’t come back since the flair and the atmosphere is not very welcoming or charming.

Another amazing cocktail bar. It rivals ones I’ve been to in Shanghai, Tokyo and San Francisco. Wonderful bartenders who can make anything your heart desires. The atmosphere is superb and the prices are very reasonable. Will be back here next time I am in Hong Kong.

Good cocktails and service but 200 HKD for a cocktail ?? Including a random over charge in addition to a standard service charge ?? Waaaay too overpriced for what it is. Might as well go to the sky at at the Ritz.

Luckily I found this bar on google right by my place. What a fantastic cocktail bar. The old fashion was top notch and I would say the best I had in HK so far. Everything is carefully crafted the bartenders take their time to explain. Service is top notch! In particular Lewis was amazing and really took the time to explain all the different spirits and the stories behind them. All the bartenders were friendly and skilled in crafting fantastic drinks. Highly recommended and will be back plenty more!

This is one truly hidden bar which worth paying a visit. Bartender Nick is a super easy and great story teller. He made his drink with his professionalism and his heart. Omekase bar, very Japanese style of presentation and choices, a virtue he brought you through. Cozy and comfy with a super clean toilet. Bravo!

Hidden gem! A cosy small bar which reminds me of the ones in Japan. Bartender are friendly and interactive, amazing service and tailor made cocktails to your liking.

Nice cozy bar with really good service, really friendly bar tenders and some of the best cocktail Ive tasted. This place is usually full and need to reserve a head of time to get a seat. It was a last min decision to go and thought we’ll try our luck to see if there are any seats. Luckily, there was a last min cancellation, and we were able to get a seat when we walked in.

First thing I noticed the back wall of the bar is just filled with bottles upon bottles of liquor. We got to our seat and the bar tender was already preparing a drink. I noticed there were even more bottles on the countertop and thought that they have so many bottles they cant even fit them all in their display, but it turns out they take out al the liquor needed to make the drink and line it up in front of the customers to show the what goes into their drink. Havent really seen any bar do that which I thought it was pretty interesting and a good conversation piece. We started off with something from the menu to warm up and it was really good. For my second drink I wanted to try something different. I see them serve Espressotini but wasn’t too interested as I see them use instant coffee to make the drink. I remember when I walked into the bar one of the bartenders was making a drink with a whipped cream top so I asked him what that drink was. He said it wasn’t on the menu and was a custom order requested by another customer. The drink is rum based but he can use any type of base to make it, he noticed I was asking about the Espressotini before so he asked if I wanted something with coffee, he said he can whip up something for me in a similar fashion with coffee liquor so I said why not. He started pulling out bottles and putting them on the counter. Theres literally 10 different bottles in and im started to freak out thinking…what have I gotten myself into. After a whole lot of pouring and mixing, my drink was finally ready. I took a sip and man was it good. It reminds me a lot of Baileys but not as creamy. It was honestly a great drink. My friend asked for another drink as well and asked the bartender’s recommendation. They suggested a bloody marry they said they use Japanese tomatoes to make it. I was interested in it at first as well, so we said sure. They instantly pulled out a carton of Japanese tomatoes and started mashing it in front of us, then out comes a bottle of vodka with celery sticks and chili soaking in it. After everything is mixed, they started shaking everything up in the traditional bartender flair and the drink was finally served. At first it was nothing special as its just a plain glass with what looks like tomato juice in it and not even a celery stick as garnish, but taking the first sip you instantly forget the minor detail and would just enjoy the drink.

All of this doesn’t come cheap tho, on average, cocktails are around 170. The stronger or more elaborate ones would cost more. Our 4 drinks came out to be just under $900. But is it worth it? I think so. The drinks are really well made, and you can tell they put a lot of effort into it. Its good to treat yourself and your date to some nice cocktail once in a while.
